The following prints are all full length theatrical portraits of the subjects, the majority adopting a dramatic pose. By tradition, as these do, they usually have a small scenic view behind in the bottom third of the print The prints are approx. 7"x9" to the plate marks.
Many of the following are available as 'tinsel' pictures as well as
hand-coloured prints.
The 'tinsel' pictures are executed in a similar way to elaborate collages. The various parts of the print are progressively cut out and replaced with fabrics, leather scraps, lace, etc, to represent the clothing, shoes, etc. Most of these fabric pieces are
coloured by Mr Hope with creases, pockets, etc, to more closely resemble the actual clothing. In addition items such as buckles, swords, shields, crowns, etc, are represented by tiny pieces of embossed coloured foil, to enhance the detail. This technique was used extensively in the nineteenth century by the original Juvenile Drama publishers, and produces an attractive '3-dimensional' image. Please state whether you require the coloured print or the 'tinsel' version of your choice.
