Hugh Collier
was awarded the Ushakov Medal, on behalf of the Russian Government for his
participation some 70 years ago in what Winston Churchill called
the worst journey in the world. Thousands of Allied seamen
lost their lives as the British ships sailed in the unwelcoming,
stormy water of the Arctic ocean under a constant threat of
being attacked by German U-boats and aircraft. This year
he received the British Veterans Arctic Star. |
